OUR MEMBERSHIP

Initial Members : The initial members of the Association are those named on the application for incorporation of the Association as members.

 Types of Members

  • Ordinary members
  • Life members
  • Special members
  • Honorary members

Ordinary members are those who have been members of the Association for less than five years.

Life members are those who have been Ordinary members of the Association for five years and more.

Special members are those living in Tonga and Tongans who are living overseas and who are accepted as special members.

Honorary members are those members of the Association nominated, approved by the association and accepted to the Association’s honorary list.

* Only Ordinary and Life members shall have voting rights during the meetings of the Association.

Application for membership

Ordinary membership

Any Tongan person or other person involved in Tongan or Pacific health services in New Zealand is entitled to apply for membership of the Association. Membership application form must be completed and approved by current members of the Association.

Any other person who has an interest in Tongan health and wellbeing can apply to become a member.

Students conducting health related studies can apply for membership by completing an application form to become a member of the Association.

Special membership

Any Tongan person living in Tonga or overseas can apply for special membership.

Honorary membership

Ordinary and life members can nominate a person to be included in the Association’s honorary list, to be approved by the association.

The nomination should be in writing, providing background information about the nominee and the reasons for nominating the person.

Acceptance into the list will be based on the person’s contribution and service to Pacific health and well being.
