Position: Program Manager
Location: Auckland, New Zealand
Contract Duration: 42 months (with potential for extension based on funding availability)

Are you a passionate and experienced leader with a drive to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals living with dementia? Pacific Dementia Māngalo (PDM) is seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Program Manager. In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead a team of dedicated dementia navigators and oversee the implementation of a pioneering dementia support program for the Pacific community in Auckland, New Zealand.

About Pacific Dementia Māngalo (PDM) and Te Whatu Ora-Health New Zealand:
PDM has been contracted by Te Whatu Ora-Health New Zealand to pilot a comprehensive post diagnostic support, dementia navigator service, and dementia awareness program for the Pacific community in Auckland. This initiative aims to provide tailored support, guidance, and awareness to individuals and their families affected by dementia. As the Program Manager, you will play a crucial role in leading and managing this program, making a lasting impact on the lives of those within the Pacific community.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Leadership and Management:
  • Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the dementia post diagnostic support, dementia navigator service, and dementia awareness program.
  • Provide strategic direction, ensuring program objectives are achieved within budget and timeline.
  • Oversee program monitoring and evaluation to measure effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  1. Team Management and Development:
  • Lead and inspire a team of dementia navigators, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality services.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture, promoting collaboration, professional growth, and continuous learning.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching and mentoring to support individual and team development.
  1. Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including community organisations, healthcare professionals, and relevant agencies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective coordination of services, resource sharing, and alignment with community needs.
  • Represent PDM and the program at meetings, conferences, and community events.
  1. Program Development and Expansion:
  • Identify opportunities for program growth and expansion, based on community needs and emerging research and best practices.
  • Work with the leadership team to secure additional funding and resources to sustain and expand the program’s impact.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., health sciences, social work, psychology, or nursing). An MBA added to a Bachelor in the related field would be advantageous.
  • Proven experience in program management, preferably in the healthcare or community sector.
  • Strong understanding of dementia, its impact on individuals and their families, and the cultural nuances within the Pacific community.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare system and community support services in Auckland, New Zealand.
